Our Story:

Tom Guadagno started the craft of bread baking following his long research career as a cancer biologist. What started out as a hobby, became a passion. In 2016, Tom enrolled at the prestigious French Pastry School in Chicago to learn L’Art de la Boulangerie. With his new skills and inspiration, Tom started a home-based micro bakery, Liberty Artisanal Breads. The initials LAB to name the bakery are an homage to his previous love for research.

Tom started selling his creations at local farmer’s markets in Newton and Needham, MA. Each week, long lines of hungry customers frequented his bakery stand becoming a local favorite among those looking for high-quality, naturally-leavened breads. Selling out week after week, it soon became clear that the bakery needed to expand. But where? After much deliberations (and soul searching), Tom and his wife Sarah moved to Cape Cod to locate a space for their bakery and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Nearly two years later, patience and perseverance paid off and the new bakery is under construction and will be located off of Route 28 in West Chatham (see map).

Tom and Sarah  and their family (including two Aussie Shepards) are full time Cape Cod residents living in North Chatham.  They enjoy exploring all the Cape has to offer and going on long dog walks on the beach (in the off-season).
